A sustainable choice for the future
Zinc is a natural raw material and endlessly recyclable. With an average lifetime of 75 to 100 years, it is considered a sustainable building material for roofing and cladding.
The oxidation process of zinc is triggered by contact with rain and oxygen. A top layer of zinc carbonate is then formed which protects the material against corrosion. It guarantees a longer lifespan. For that reason, it is not needed to treat zinc after installation, which means maintenance costs are reduced significantly.
Zinc is a soft metal and therefore easy to form into shape. This provides architects endless opportunities to use zinc in a creative way.
