What are brass compression fittings?

Conex Compression fittings are high-quality brass connectors that allow pipes to be connected easily and reliably. The compression mechanism creates a gas- and water-tight connection that can withstand high pressure and high temperatures. The big advantage is that no heat source, special tools, or extra sealant is required. Tightening the nut clamps the pipe securely, creating a safe and durable connection.

These fittings are suitable for connecting a wide range of pipes, including:

  • Copper pipes according to EN 1057
  • Carbon steel according to EN 10305
  • Stainless steel according to EN 10312
  • Plastic pipes according to BS EN 7291, EN 15875, and EN 15876

This makes brass compression fittings both practical to install and reliable to use.

Applications of brass compression fittings

Thanks to their versatility, brass compression fittings are suitable for numerous applications in residential, commercial, and industrial construction. They ensure reliable connections in a wide range of installations. Examples include:

  • Drinking water installations for hygienic and safe connections for cold and hot water.
  • Sealed heating systems for both conventional heating systems and solar boilers.
  • Cooling and compressed air pipes due to their high reliability at varying pressures and temperatures.
  • Rainwater and fire extinguishing pipes for use in distribution and safety systems.
  • Industrial process installations for the supply and drainage of water, air, and liquids.
  • Gas installations due to their suitability for natural gas, LPG, and other fuels.
  • Oil circuits due to their suitability for applications where resistance to oil is required.

What are the advantages of brass compression fittings?

Brass compression fittings offer a combination of strength and simplicity that makes them widely applicable in installation technology. Brass is known for its durability, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance, which means that the fittings remain reliable even with intensive use.

  • Compatible with multiple pipe types: suitable for copper, stainless steel, steel, and plastic.
  • Safe, permanent connection: a reliable seal without welding or soldering.
  • Easy installation: quick to install with standard tools.
  • Corrosion-resistant material: brass remains strong and durable, even with prolonged use.
  • Additional variants available: such as DZR brass (dezincification-free) or red brass (gunmetal) for more aggressive environments.
  • Low maintenance: once installed, the fittings require little attention.

    For larger sizes (66,7–108 mm):  6 bar at 65 °C and 4 bar at 110 °C
  • Gas installations
    Operating parameters: 1 bar at temperatures from -20 °C to +70 °C
  • Compressed air
Operating parameters: 10 bar at temperatures to 45 °C

Dimensions

We supply brass compression fittings directly from stock in diameters ranging from 6 mm to 108 mm. This allows us to provide suitable couplings for virtually any installation, large or small.

Maintenance and points to note for brass compression fittings

Although brass compression fittings are very reliable, correct installation remains essential. Ensure that pipes are clean, round, and free of burrs before installing the fitting. Tighten the nut according to the guidelines to ensure a durable seal.

When used in aggressive or humid environments, we recommend using DZR brass (dezincification-resistant) or red brass (gunmetal) for extra protection against material corrosion.
