What is a central heating pipe (galvanised steel)?

Galvanised steel is steel that has been coated with a protective layer of zinc to prevent corrosion.

This zinc coating ensures that the material has a longer service life, even in damp environments. Galvanised steel central heating pipes are widely used in heating and plumbing systems due to their strength, durability and good resistance to rust.

Composition of galvanised steel

Our CV pipes are made from high-quality structural steel that has been hot-dip or electro-galvanised. The zinc coating forms a barrier against moisture and oxygen, protecting the steel from corrosion. Depending on the application, the thickness of the zinc coating can vary, ensuring the pipes are also suitable for intensive and long-term use.

Galvanised steel pipes at Roba Metals

Roba Metals supplies Contiflo pipes from Tata Steel. These pipes are renowned for their high quality. They are fully galvanised on the outside using an in-line coating process. This gives each pipe a glossy finish and ensures that the weld seam is completely covered.

The zinc coating is available in various thicknesses. The advanced galvanising process guarantees exceptionally strong adhesion, enabling the pipe to withstand various processing operations without issue. The applied passivation layer protects the surface against white rust. The inside of the Contiflo pipes is also treated as standard with baked-on oil and zinc spray for optimum protection.
