Lean Duplex 1.4362

Lean Duplex 1.4362 is a high-quality duplex stainless steel that is particularly renowned for its higher strength, excellent corrosion resistance and favourable cost. Thanks to its low nickel content, 1.4362 is cheaper than many austenitic alternatives, whilst its performance is often superior.

The alloy is particularly suitable as a stronger and more durable alternative to 316L (1.4404), offering better resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking in chloride-containing environments.

Key properties

  1. High mechanical strength (significantly higher than 316L)
  2. Excellent corrosion resistance, particularly against pitting and crevice corrosion
  3. Outstanding resistance to stress corrosion
  4. Lower costs due to reduced nickel content
  5. Good weldability and high structural reliability

Typical applications

Lean Duplex 1.4362 is widely used in situations where high strength and corrosion resistance are essential, but cost-efficiency is also a factor, such as:

  1. Process industry & chemicals for heat exchangers, pressure vessels, pipelines and process installations
  2. Maritime sector for offshore installations and ship components exposed to water
  3. Construction & infrastructure for high-load structural applications and for bridges and supporting structures
  4. Water treatment & environmental engineering for plant components in chloride-containing water and for drinking water and desalination plants

Why choose Lean Duplex 1.4362?

Lean Duplex 1.4362 is a smart, cost-effective replacement for 316L, offering superior strength and resistance to stress corrosion cracking. This makes it the ideal choice for demanding applications where reliability and durability are paramount.
