Fred van den Ham

As Director of the Recycling Division Netherlands, I am responsible for Roba Metals’ recycling activities in the Netherlands. I started working in production on 13 November 1995 and have since been given many opportunities to develop further within Roba. Thanks to this broad experience, I not only have an in-depth understanding of our organisation and processes, but have also built up extensive knowledge of the metals and recycling industry and our products.

In addition to being responsible for the day-to-day operations of our Dutch recycling division, I am also commercially active. For many years, my focus was primarily on sales, but in recent years my responsibilities have increasingly expanded to include purchasing and acquisition. I believe it is important to fully understand what a customer produces, how their production process is organised and which chemical compositions play a role. Based on this knowledge, we can determine which solution and processing method are best suited to the residual material streams in question, taking into account the requirements of our suppliers, our own smelting facilities and our external customers.

My expertise lies primarily in aluminium residual material streams. Over the years, I have developed extensive knowledge of how to identify and distinguish between different types of aluminium, as well as the processing methods best suited to each type. We process and melt some of these materials within Roba and at our sister company KBM Affilips. Thanks to the knowledge and capabilities available within our group, we can process aluminium residual material streams as efficiently and to as high a standard as possible, enabling them to be reused as raw materials.

My way of working is characterised by commitment, curiosity and a practical approach. Direct contact with customers helps me gain a thorough understanding of their needs and processes, allowing us to develop suitable solutions together. What appeals to me most about my work is the combination of responsibility and freedom, travelling and visiting customers, and the trust placed in me by the management team. The pleasant, informal working atmosphere within our division and Roba as a whole also means that, after more than thirty years, I still feel completely at home here.
